Of all the subjects in the Bible related to the Christian life, none is more basic or important than the Holy Spirit. A few years ago when Dr. Henry was conducting prayer seminars in Australia, he was invited to prepare a series of teaching tapes for broadcasting throughout the Far East and in the Pacific Rim nations. He prepared several sessions on the Holy Spirit. The station manager made his studio available to produce a new series on the Holy Spirit. The result was the two-hour teaching tape. Dr. Henry begins with the premise: "I
will never develop a sustained prayer life apart from living the
Spirit-filled
life." He then goes on to deal with the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament
and the New Testament.
In the New Testament section, he provides detailed instruction from the Upper
Room Discourse
showing what Jesus Himself taught about the Holy Spirit. Since He was giving
final instructions to
His disciples before returning to Heaven, we know that every word He taught
was critically important. He
then shows how Joel's OT prophecy that the Holy Spirit would one day be available
to all flesh came to
fulfillment in the Book of Acts. |
