Venezuela--Day 11

Merida is very beautiful. Out my window, I can see the mountains, first a low range and the background is a very high one. It seems that the temperature here is constant (except during January-February it can be quite cold). Folks grow bananas and fruits with their own trees. The city is clean and seems well organized.
This week the seminars are in two parts on two days. Since there were seminars in Caracas each day and one here on Saturday, this is a welcomed relief. Last night, the attendance was quite good and the folks responded very well. While we were outside waiting for our cab, two young ladies came to speak to me. Adam thought they wanted to practice English, but they only knew Spanish. They wanted to tell me what a blessing my teaching was with the emphasis on the teaching. One said, "You are a good teacher. You kept the large crowd on the edge of their seats for three hours." I explained that what happened was the Holy Spirit brought the Word of God that was taught alive and that was the reason they were blessed.
Adam had contact from a cable television station in another state (perhaps five hours from Caracas by auto--no flights) that covers four states. The manager had heard about the seminar from one of the pastors/churches in Caracas. He said that he would not rest until I came and taught the seminars in churches in his area so that he could tape them to send out over the four states. He said that they would pay all expenses from Caracas (travel--sending his driver--lodging, and food). He wanted us to come now, but Adam explained our schedule was full. He said, "OKAY. 2009 or sooner." This reminds me of the many times over the years that we have had invitations because someone in the seminars told someone in another area. I'm touched with the way the Lord works.
Now, I am full of energy and good health this morning. You will remember that I had the little dry cough. Strangely enough, it has gone away. Last night, I was back at the hotel at 10:30 p.m. and did not awaken this morning until 6 a.m. Today, there is a luncheon at the Wed-Thurs church. At 4 I am meeting with the president of the Baptist convention who is also an administrator at one the large universities here. He wants to talk with me about his work in the church as well as plans for me to address some of the university administrators/professors on Friday. Then part two of the seminar is 6-9 p.m.
